ABOUT ME

Muraho! And welcome to my blog (yep, I cringed too).

My name is Grace and I am departing in June 2018 to serve as a Maternal and Child Health Volunteer with the US Peace Corps in Rwanda. I am a Cal grad - Go Bears! - wannabe yogi, sometimes runner, avid beachgoer, Friend of the Pod, am coffee addicted and pretended to be a Bostonian for the past few years. I love to cook (eat), travel (eat other places) and spend quality time with family and friends (eat with other people). It looks like all these hobbies will be doable in East Africa!
The title of my site, as well as the cover art, was inspired by a recent trip to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. The question of what I am doing in the world has been one of my largest motivators through my application process and preparation for service, and this feels like an exceptionally fitting theme for my site. I have enjoyed learning more about the history of the Peace Corps, President Kennedy and Rwanda throughout this time. As the Peace Corps' Third Goal is to share the culture of Rwanda with other Americans, along with keeping updated on my service through my blog and social media, I encourage you to learn more about Rwanda, the dynamic country I will be living and serving in for the next few years. On my end, I will do my absolute best to keep you all updated with photos and stories from my service. I hope this brings you joy, laughter, and maybe even a pang of jealousy while you are sitting at your desk dreaming of living on the other side of the world.
Please stay in touch! Your support, excitement and enthusiasm are beyond appreciated.
